About Chicago Data Maps
Chicago Data Maps is made in Chicago by Common Signal, a studio that builds consumer data products from public data. It is published by Common Signal LLC. The transit map is the first of a family of maps of how the city moves; more are on the way.
The maps are built on our own engine: an OpenStreetMap basemap we host ourselves, live public feeds polled once a minute, and our own measurements computed from them. Nothing here is a tracker; everything here is a picture of the city.
